Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy.
After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion.
The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Suzanne Collins continues the amazing story of Katniss Everdeen in Catching Fire, the second novel of the phenomenal Hunger Games trilogy. ([source][1])

Wowser! what an awesome cliffhanger of an ending! So pleased I have part 3 to start tonight. I enjoyed this just as much as the first one....but what next?

The ending of "The Hunger Games" was very abrupt, so I had to start Catching Fire immediately. Sometimes, I just want to strangle Katniss, but if she fell instantly in love with Peeta, then there wouldn't be much of a story line. How could they live happily ever after in a world where they are constantly oppressed, and parents live in fear of their children being sacrificed for the Capital's enjoyment?
Like The Hunger Games, this book was a page turner, and it certainly had some twists that i never anticipated.Again, the ending left me desperately wondering what happens next, so of course i started reading Mocking Jay right away!

I am quite stunned by this book. I really enjoyed The Hunger Games and was eager to read more after the cliffhanger ending, and oh boy, did I ever get more. I still thirst for more knowledge about Panem and its history, how it all came to be, but at least I got some more detail on the various districts this time.
What makes Catching Fire so incredible for me are its surprises that just keep you reading and reading. Whereas in the first book it was somewhat easy to see the direction things were headed in, this time it was just one plot twist after the other. I can't say I ever had a dull moment.
I wish I had brought Mockingjay along today, because I cannot wait to read the finale now.
In short, for me this was the best book that I have read in years, entirely …
