Ugh… this book has so many characteristics that should make me love it, but it’s not happening. Maybe I have reader’s block? (Which has literally NEVER happened to me.) Is that even a thing? This is the second book in a row I’ve stopped reading (which also has literally never happened to me). Maybe I need to stop picking up my reading at 10pm when I’m already tired.

Julianne MacLean: Beyond the Moonlit Sea (Paperback, 2022, Lake Union Publishing) No rating

Nothing bad, just nothing great. Somewhat predictable, and I didn’t find the surprising parts to be very believable. I liked Olivia, but none of the other characters really spoke to me. Also, a major plot point involved the Bermuda Triangle, but there was little to no actual information about the Bermuda Triangle… it seemed like a lost opportunity. 3/5 stars.

This was fun - interesting plot and characters, and I like the present-day setting. It’s rather short, which at first left me feeling like I wanted to know a lot more about the characters, but it’s the first in a series of five or so, so it looks like I’ll get the chance.
