Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars.
Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there.
After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive.
Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first.
But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible …

Fun and entertaining.
The Martian by Andy Weir was an absolute joy to consume. I'm a space nerd all the way to my molten core and this thing had me on the edge of my seat. Sometimes I was a step ahead of the plot, but much of the time I wasn't. This is was the perfect balance of detail and accurate science to give me a mental picture and a realistic plot to pull me along. Damnit that was a good book.

This book is an absolutely incredible mix of great storytelling and real science. We need much more of this kind of science fiction and a bit less of the trending dystopian kind.
What are you waiting for? Go read this book. Very engrossing, a lot of fun.

Would have wanted to know more about their return trip to Earth.
Yeah, it's that good. I couldn't put it down.

Good story with a funny protagonist.
Was okay, but some of the writing seemed a bit goofy and unrealistic.
