Took a while working on it on and off, but finally got through both implementations of the toy language Lox. Definitely recommended if you want a ~~relatively~~ easy to follow introduction to writing interpreters/programming languages with a lot of example code.

An interesting look into how the purveyors of the crypto hype bubble work(ed). An impressive cast of zany real-life characters that all seem to take themselves too seriously. Recommended if you like seeing crytobros made fun of.

So far I'm a little disappointed purely because of how capitalist the perspective of this book is. I can't say I'm surprised I guess, though I was hoping for a more sociological examination of why people seem to be going back to more analog things like vinyl records. Instead the author seems much more interested in how that shift is enabling businesses to make money in more "traditional" markets, which in my opinion is much less interesting.

Elantris is probably the most un-cosmere book in the cosmere. There isn't much action compared to Mistborn or Stormlight, but it makes up for that with the mystery of AonDor and the political fight between Hrathen and Sarene. Elantris is a very good example of this, the climax of the plot coming very near to the end of the book and there being hardly any breaks once that ball really starts rolling. I wan't really bothered by this as it made for a very interesting last few chapters, but it did mean that a lot of the earlier parts of the book had a tendency to …

Still, overall a very good start to a very good universe.
