So, I've been running this game and my players are having fun and saying that I should try and publish it.

That isn't going to happen because I think it only works because I have a sense of how it's supposed to work and feel but I have no idea how to encode that in a way that would be legible and reproducible to people who aren't me.

It occurred to me that you seldom get the sense with modern adventures that there's a larger, more personal 'shadow' adventure crammed into a box.

One of my favourite things about Call of Cthulhu (the RPG) is that it's a core part of the game that you can (and SHOULD) in any situation and city, town or village...
Go bother a librarian about obscure and/or strange things and look at a bunch of books to fact check things people have said. 😂 Library Use is a skill, and it's an important skill!
I just like it.

So this is how I prepare games that are driven by relationships plus resources (mystery/thriller stuff like mostly, space-fantasy-western here). A big sheet of paper with groups and locations as "areas", with resources, goals, features, but also tables, lists and meters and such. Areas interesect and/or are connected, connections sometimes have notes next to them. During Session, I scribble into the thing & put markers on connections (+/-).

Saturday Morning Prop for Horror Games...

I saw this 1932 Egyptian Post Administration Letterhead today... and thought.. "You know a quick clone brush and that's a handy prop for a CoC game"

And here you go.

Richard Kühnau: Schlesische Sagen 1 - Spuk- und Gespenstersagen (1910, B.G. Teubner)

The irrlichts (will-o'-wisps) were often seen in the Alt-Seidenberg area, and frequently led the carters astray. There was also a larger irrlicht, which was called "The Great Shining One". It frequently approached from the direction of the Röhrborn near Alt-Seidenberg, and made a curve around the village until it reached the Küppen Forest. While the common irrlichts swayed up and down and were significantly smaller, the Great Shining One moved in a steady course.

A boss monster will-o'-wisp!

Or worse, a manifestation of Cthugha...

Rise Up Against the Gods Themselves!

Welcome to an epic struggle of heroic mortals …

Another #ttrpg in the category: "Backed the Kickstarter, no idea when I will actually get around to reading it."

Still, I love #CallOfCthulhu , and I am always up for more interesting historical setting. Plus, the "default region" is ancient Germania, so I might actually use some of my German #folklore research for this...

Chris W. McCubbin: GURPS Cthulhupunk (Paperback, STEVE JACKSON GAMES) No rating

The concept of GURPS Cthulhupunk is sound - throw some #CallOfCthulhu into a Cyberpunk setting. While the "mundane" setting is getting a bit aged (it's definitely "alternate history" by now), it's worth revisiting the ideas therein. #ttrpg #GURPS

Call of Cthulhu Hook:
The investigators are called to solve a puzzling medical mystery. The corpse of a man was found in a park, completely nude and visibly emaciated. But during an autopsy, examiners found something startling: nothing. The man had no organs. He had skin, bones, eyes, and everything else visible on the outside, but the inside was empty. And there were no marks or scars indicating a removal. They just… were absent.

Day 13:
