session today: we managed to completely miss the mark and stole the wrong vehicle from the place we were investigating. Turns out it was a vintage car worth enough to give us a good payoff, but it wasn't the car we were supposed to find.

Looks like I've got my mind set on starting a niche store, like zines and weird games from other countries than the us (mostly). (End goal is to be like a weird dusty antiquarian) So hey reach out if you have a zine or sell paper stuff and I'll get back to you.

Glimmermark session 39: the PCs hired human mercenaries and got themselves additional goblin troops from their friends in Castle Dyson to march on the Stygian Caves and deal with the hobgoblins there. After a largely successful stealthy approach they got into a fight with the hobgoblins (the PCs had the high ground), but had to notice their enemies also were supported by skeletons and what they assumed were human necromancers. They also got unexpected aid from a group of gnolls.

Session 3 with the Tome of Worldbuilding and the Nomicon, both by Matt Finch of OSRIC fame. I'm trying to stick close to the book while fleshing out a setting with a - hopefully - Heavy Metal gonzo sci-fantasy aesthetic. I say "hopefully" because I'm trying to let the dice lead the way and I'm not sure they'll go down that road.

I've always fancied a "generational" campaign that featured the same "runner crew" as it changes and grows over the years and decades - starting in the year 2025, and following the twists and turns of the Shadowrun metaplot.

But I want to use the same rule system throughout. The various Shadowrun editions are too messy for my tastes. And I do not have the free time to convert it to GURPS.

So now I am wondering if might do the trick. Has anyone here run a campaign with it?

I ran my first actual session of last night. I'm using Dance of Dreams, included in the core book. It's baby's first straight-up mystery scenario so hope I did okay.

We all seemed to have fun but keeping things moving required more GM involvement than I normally like. I can't shake the feeling that I was too heavy-handed at times. That could also just be Dance of Dreams.

Dec. 11 – How do you keep track of plots and subplots?

On some level I don't find it hard because I think of characters like when I'm managing a campaign, so I kind of keep it in my head who's doing what even when they're not in the forefront, and when they or their doings will burst into the narrative. I've been complimented on how alive and dynamic the characters and world feel for this reason.

On the other hand I tend to be fuzzy on specific timelines and distances, and handwave a lot of such details. I've gotten by on writing even very long fic this way, but for the big WIP I may need more concrete timelines, maps and so on to keep track of everyone and everything more concretely. I don't want to go overboard with it and in fact …

I've finally released my first TTRPG! It's free, so no harm in checking it out! It's what I feel is a fast and fun game that can work in any setting, but comes attached with a tropey cute fantasy setting inspired by lots of things, if you're into that.

Lots of oracle tables within!

I might need to close a few tabs

“ I am not trying to run some authentic society any more than I try to make a dungeon perfectly architecturally sound with all proper support columns, ventilation, and oxygen content. But having a simple, referee-friendly construction of law, much like dungeon walls, can enhance play somewhat paradoxically by constraining choice, but increasing decision impact.”

I’m going through open tabs on my browser.

I don’t remember opening this link at all. I have no doubt that it came from mastodon. It’s to a Latin book, but there are lots of neat illustrations of dragon and snake creatures. Just scroll up and down.

It gives off @juergen_hubert vibes…. (Edit: it was him.)
Or
@TarkabarkaHolgy
If not one of them, I have no idea

Ok, Hybrid is of course largely the incomprehensible ramblings of a madman more than it is an actual , BUT I don't think any other rpg ever thought about taking care of the munchies before it even gets to the preface:
It starts with a brownie recipe.
One that is later modified to be more healthy in one of the actual rules.
