An adequate sequel, his on all of Sanderson's high points. Strong writing and plenty of action and suspense.
The only problem is the same problem I have with most 2nd books of a trilogy. It appears Sanderson knows he's writing 3 books in the series, so instead of making a strong book that equally progresses the over arcing story line and is a worthy stand alone book... Sanderson wrote a transition story. The events did nothing but to setup for the final book. Unlike Words of Radiance (where Sanderson hopes to make his own anthology series, ala Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time), that second story was anthology furthering but excellent stand alone story.
I'm finding this quite common when a writer plans for a trilogy instead of writing 3 books and stringing them together.
