stopped reading The Waste Lands by Stephen King (The Dark Tower, #3)

Stephen King: The Waste Lands (2003, Viking)

Part III of an epic saga. Roland and his companions, Eddie and Susannah Dean, find …

ok, i love king's writing. but the «dark tower» series… sorry, meh for some reason.

Iain M. Banks: Consider Phlebas (Culture, #1) (2005)

Consider Phlebas, first published in 1987, is a space opera novel by Scottish writer Iain …

i think i've finished it at some point, not sure now. what i remember though is: this was sooooo boring =( i'm sorry, i do love sci-fi and space operas specifically, but... just don't know how i could compare this to, say, «the expanse»?

Ken Follett: L'arme à l'oeil (French language, 1981, Librairie générale française)

Review of "L'arme à l'oeil" on 'Goodreads'

not bad as those mass-produced thrillers go; i'll give one star less for the unexpected and rather awkwardly cringy transformation from a spy thriller into your typical a-stranger-menaces-to-murder-a-family thriller with porn elements… but hey, the author was probably bored himself and had to experiment, lol.

Review of 'Supermind' on 'Goodreads'

далеко не шедевр, але… досить кумедне розважальне чтиво, що поєднало колишнє захоплення шпигунськими пристрастями, детективними історіями і паранормальними здібностями.

Harry Harrison: Planet of the Damned (Paperback, 1993, Tor Books)

Man always expands his horizons, when Earth is full, man will venture out to space …

loved this novel. i don't know how i could have missed this one in my younger days. for some reason i considered harrison to be too... non-serious as a sci-fi writer. i was mistaken.

Harry Harrison: Deathworld 1 (Deathworld, #1) (1983)

Review of 'Deathworld 1 (Deathworld, #1)' on 'Goodreads'

вперше читав колись дуууже давно, ще підлітком, і російською; тоді оцінив би на трієчку (чомусь); зараз переслухав у оригіналі — тверда четвірка! чудова класична фантастика.

John W. Campbell: The Black Star Passes (Paperback, 2006, Wildside Press)

Review of 'The Black Star Passes' on 'Goodreads'

надзвичайно занудна манера автора описувати події та технології радше як розповідати історію — перетворює неймовірні космічні пригоди на монотонну «жуйку». слухав-слухав, наче крізь нескінченне поле плентався… вислухав таки. на трієчку.
