“The end was near.” —Voices from the Zombie War

The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of thirty million souls to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet. Review of 'World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War' on 'Goodreads'

As someone who loves zombie media in general, I genuinely feel like this is a beautiful take on the genre. Having a sort of interview styled read, just questioning people from all over the world about the experience with the apocalypse. Its different and its dark and its wonderful.
Its not all that scary of a read considering that we know the people being interviewed turned out okay, but the enjoyment comes from the format rather than the action I feel.
Having a bunch of survivors say their story about how they made it through, recounting the big juicy bits. Its really very nice.
If you're into zombies but are willing to have a bit of a different read, then this is very recommended.
