SPENSA'S WORLD HAS BEEN UNDER ATTACK FOR DECADES.

Now pilots are the heroes of what's left of the human race, and becoming one has always been Spensa's dream. Since she was a little girl, she has imagined soaring skyward and proving her bravery. But her fate is intertwined with her father's--a pilot himself who was killed years ago when he abruptly deserted his team, leaving Spensa the daughter of a coward, her chances of attending Flight School slim to none.

No one will let Spensa forget what her father did, yet fate works in mysterious ways. Flight school might be a long shot, but she is determined to fly. And an accidental discovery in a long-forgotten cavern might just provide her with a way to claim the stars.

The real MBot stands for Mushroom not Murder

Sure, she jokes that her ship with huge guns should really be classified as a fighter ship, a murderbot even. But no, the ship disagrees: with a partial fungal database, the stealth features must have been intended for swiftly foraging across the land. Fuck yes, finally some good mushroom loving representation in fiction, where mushrooms are cool and neat to check out - not mind controlling monsters.

I think a former classmate recommended the author to me. At first, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. YA can be really cringey, and there were the seeds that could have been hard cliches. A part of me worried it was going to be an attack on titan or hunger games. In the end, the story really matured to be unique along with commentary on classism. I could tell how committed the author was to building an immersive …

непогана підліткова (12-15 років) фантастика, читається легко, на однім вдиху, і не страждає надміру на "синдром барбі-літератури". схвалюю.

Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorite authors and his latest young adult offering, Skyward, doesn’t disappoint. Sanderson is best known for his fantasy novels, but this novel length foray into science fiction is a lot of fun, with many of the twists and turns you’ve come to expect from a Sanderson novel. In typical Sanderson fashion, he keeps the pages turning and this is especially true of the climax. If you’re looking for a pulse-pounding sci-fi read, check out Skyward.

I loved the world building in Skyward. From the caverns below Alta Base to the starfighters our characters spend so much time in, there is a great deal of care that has been taken and it shows. Sanderson is known for his world building, so this should come as no surprise, but it’s still a lot of fun to read. There are also hints that there …

Fantastic book. Sanderson is one of the few authors that I can still read young adult fiction and not get frustrated at the childishness of the characters. His characters are spot on for their age/experience/culture. There is so much in this for a decent series, I hope it is like the Reckoners and can be completed fairly quickly. Good stuff.

Wow, this was really good. I felt a bit like I was reading an Ernist Cline at points.

Although it's a difficult one to put yourself into, I still found myself cheering along and very much enjoying it. Finished late into the night and very much looking forward to more.
