Villainess Stories Public

and contract marriage and time reversal and all the stuff that fits into that genre of tropes. Ordered by how much I enjoyed them, which doesn't necessarily have any connection to their quality (series with a more comedic focus tend to be lower on the list for example, but that doesn't mean they're worse, I just prefer romance & drama themes). I put series that have fun themes but bad writing higher than stuff that's well written but bores me.

Will slowly add all the stuff I've read + commentary of my thoughts on it. The curation feature is on in case folks want to hear my opinion on something not on here yet. Feel free to suggest something & I'll be sure to read it and ramble away :>

Technically not a Villainess(+) story but it follows the same narrative structure & has the right vibes! It leans more into the abandonment side of abusive parenting which I think it handles really well and the plot/mystery about the fl's disease is really engaging. Ml is kind of 1D though

story about people who love stories talking about stories. I realllly enjoyed this one. Lovely art too, the style really fits the themes & I always love series with consistent visual symbolism. Told primary through conversations between the major characters & them telling each other stories.

This series hits all the points I normally read these kinds of stories for, and bonus for having a lead with a stutter handled in a way that's satisfying to me. It makes for a perfect hurt/comfort read. This high on the list due to how much it fits what I enjoy personally, your mileage may vary.

Wlw with a butch heroine!! Lovely art too. Some fun plot twists. Short read but well worth it, though don't go in expecting moral compasses from either character (when it says 'will do anything for the sake of love' it's not kidding)

Love love love when a villainess series keeps the leading lady mean. Watching her grow, and her goals shift, as the series went on was really nice. I also enjoyed the element of strategy added here giving the mc ongoing time magic with side effect. Even her dynamics with the ml were really nice!

  6. ObscureGodOfTea says:

Time reversal series (with no villainess elements) that really tugged on my heartstrings. A good balance of sad and hopeful elements with a sprinkling of mystery. Both the protagonist and her boyfriend (currently not) are really charming characters that make me want to root for them!

A fun and lighthearted series I absolutely adore. For once a tsundere character done well! All the characters are great actually, I constantly find myself wanting to root for each of them. Good pick-me-up read.

We're starting to veer outside the tropes this list is for, but it's close enough (and I really like it so). Wish fulfillment about having a bookshop that you don't need any customers to maintain, I can totally get behind that. Calm and sweet, I really like both protagonists. No angst.

Chloe Garnache is an alluring trap for the emperor. After living a life full of abuse at the hands of …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

High drama. Cw for grooming, incest, loss of a child, abuse. Not a tragedy but this series is playing the long game when it comes to things finally looking up for our protagonist. Chloe's trauma & recovery feel very realistic from the perspective of my own experiences.

  10. ObscureGodOfTea says:

Pretty cute! Nice genre classic characters of a determined & creative fl with a weird hobby that she took up to help people but is also just really into & a powerful but lonely ml who struggles in social settings but is unfazed engaging with the weird hobby. Plus it's about eating monsters!

  11. The Villainess Empress's Attendant by , ,

Paresa Menzel, lured by the promise of high pay, agrees to serve the empress who is known to be a …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Sadly not gay, even though it really seems like it should be. Still very good. The fl's dynamic with the empress is amazing, but her dynamic with the real love interest is also good. all the characters are entertaining & charming & the art and writing are pretty solid. For devoted knight fans <3

  12. A Wicked Tale of Cinderella's Stepmom by ,

We all know the fairytale: the glass slipper, the not-so-pretty stepsisters, and a night with the prince until the clock …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Pretty nice calm read. Retelling of Cinderella from the stepmom's perspective with an isekai twist. I really like the character dynamics! They're all flawed but trying their best to get along. Can't help but cheer on the fl taking on so much in this life she didn't ask for

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

This series is a WILD ride. Hurt/hurt. CW for a million things including so much death, rape, loss of a child, suicide. It starts out as a pretty standard villainess time loop series before swerving right into extreme trauma and convoluted worldbuilding. Will make you cry.

  14. Villains are Destined to Die, Vol. 1 by , , (Villains are Destined to Die, #1)

Playing Daughter of the Duke's Super Love Project as the easy mode heroine, Ivonne, makes charming the male characters a …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

High drama, lots of absurd situations. Intentionally toxic. I like how this series give the lead strong & complicated feelings about her new family bc they mirror the one in her real life while also being strangers. She can't detach her feelings to take the most practical actions because of it.

  15. 50 Tea Recipies from the Duchess by ,

Duchess Chloé Battenberg is a spineless softy at the mercy of society snobs, disparaging servants, and a cold husband. When …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Another one of those series that just hits what I personally enjoy. (tea, protagonists working on self-esteem and standing up for herself, slow & gentle romance) I really like Chloe and wish her all the best.
