Villainess Stories Public

and contract marriage and time reversal and all the stuff that fits into that genre of tropes. Ordered by how much I enjoyed them, which doesn't necessarily have any connection to their quality (series with a more comedic focus tend to be lower on the list for example, but that doesn't mean they're worse, I just prefer romance & drama themes). I put series that have fun themes but bad writing higher than stuff that's well written but bores me.

Will slowly add all the stuff I've read + commentary of my thoughts on it. The curation feature is on in case folks want to hear my opinion on something not on here yet. Feel free to suggest something & I'll be sure to read it and ramble away :>

  1. ObscureGodOfTea says:

A very gentle hurt/comfort helping the fl work through her trauma with a background of magic politics & drama. Really enjoyed the healing from trauma aspects, didn't care for the politics (every character is so incompetent.)

  2. Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess, Vol. 1 by  (Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess, #1)

Konoha Satou has a dark history. Although she’s not the only middle schooler who’s dreamed about romance and adventure, Satou …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Needlessly convoluted in a very classic shoujo way so I cannot fault it. The whole premise is that it's a fic a middle schooler wrote (revisited by her adult self), and it DOES read like that. Highly enjoyable read, but I have to be in the right mood for it.

  3. The Story of a Villainess Seducing the Heroine by  (The Story of a Villainess Seducing the Heroine, #1)

Akuya, the prince's fiancee, is as infamous as she is beautiful. Despite her position, she falls in love at first …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Very funny. Mayne Herwine and Vylle Inness (yes. those are their names) both know what they want and they go right for it. I love them.

CW: sex is a major plot point which is discussed a lot, nothing is actually shown. Casual mention of coerced sex (rape) in backstory panels, not lingered on.

  4. An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess, Vol 1 by , (An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess, #1)

The crown prince, Cecil, excels in everything so his life is too easy. One day, when he gets engaged to …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Decently entertaining. The comedy hits more than the romance for me. Has a good dose of fatphobia though, mostly directed towards side characters or present when comparing the original villainess to the current protagonist.

When six-year-old Inés laid eyes on the handsome heir to House Escalante, she promptly made the boy her fiancé. Since …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

CW: child death, suicide, rape, guns.

Jaded doesn't believe in love fl x obsessive wifeguy. Lil too obsessive for my taste but I do like the fl. I think it's cute how they draw her eyes so cat-like all the time. Very horny.

Adel never intended to make her living at the card tables of casinos, but as an orphan with few other …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

It's... ok I guess? Kind of just boring more than anything. This could be a much better series if it was significantly condensed, it drags everything on much longer than it needs to. Big fan of the high mage though, I kept going for him.

  7. A Villainess for the Tyrant by , ,

“I would rather just go out with a bang!” For Princess Cecile, being married off to the emperor of a …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Just ok. Overall it was funny but pretty disorganized.

  8. Beware the Villainess! by , ,

Sit back and take in this romantic tale of an angelic heroine and her devoted suitors as they vie for …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Solidly mid series. The writing isn't bad, but it doesn't have anything interesting to say with it. Its thesis seems to be 'men suck sometimes look at this cool woman beating them up' so if that's your cup of tea. Have at it.

  9. Kiraware Majo Reijou to Dansou Ouji no Kon'yaku by  (Kiraware Majo Reijou to Dansou Ouji no Kon'yaku, #1)

Vilified by others as a "witch", Evris, the youngest daughter of the House of Bradley, is engaged to Mark, the …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Cliche concept with mediocre execution. Bonus points for wlw, but they get taken away by the protagonist not realizing she was getting engaged to a girl until after she agreed to it.

  10. ObscureGodOfTea says:

Needlessly homophobic wish fulfillment fantasy. Can't say I hated it but can't recommend it either.

  11. Lily the Vicious Villainess by ,

Saint Lily shared the voice of the goddess Seraph and guided the empire… until the goddess stopped talking to her, …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Painfully boring, I forced myself to read through it just to mark it off my in process list but gah. It was not fun.

  12. Betrayal of Dignity by , ,

Would you sacrifice your honor to marry a Duke? In order to save her family from ruin, Chloe Verdier must …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Gorgeous art, decently enticing concept, and a disabled protagonist. What more could you ask for? A love interest that's not the biggest asshole in the world maybe. I can't get through more than a couple characters of him yanking the fl's cane away, forcing her to lean on him or walk without it.

  13. I'm in Love with the Villainess Volume 1 by , (I'm in Love with the Villainess, #1)

Ordinary office worker Ohashi Rei wakes up in the body of the protagonist of her favorite otome game, Revolution. To …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

Tsundere characters walk a fine line between cute romance with a character that struggles to acknowledge their feelings and a character who is Really not into it getting harassed and stalked. This series ignores that line completely and dives head first into the stalking.

  14. The Villainess' Butler by , , (The Villainess' Butler, #1)

A reincarnation story with a twist! I, Cyril, have been reborn in a new world and pledged myself to save …

    ObscureGodOfTea says:

There are a few of these stories where a male lead is isekaied into a game his sister forced him to play so he makes it his duty to "fix" the villainess, who of course falls for him. The misogyny is palpable. Not to mention the grooming. Throw in a harem while you're at it and you get this series.
