Wired: No, SNAP Benefits Aren’t Mostly Used by Immigrants SNAP benefits are set to run out on Saturday. Far-right influencers and extremists are incorrectly claiming that immigrants are the main recipients of food stamps.
"...A number of conspiracy theorists and right-wing influencers are claiming that immigrants are the main recipients of food stamps, while AI-generated videos on TikTok push racist stereotypes of Black people demanding more benefits...."

The co-founder of an archive on the history of the Dutch colonies speaks about the importance of memory and anti-racism, amid the rise of the far-right in the Netherlands"
Much of that depends whether you think it has moved forward in anything more than superficial terms in recent years.
And to be frank it doesn't much matter what I think, if, the victims of racism think things are getting worse, then whatever the claims of our political class, they are!
Certainly, the recent call for the deportation of settled migrants suggests a normalisation of racism that is highly worrying.

“The Supreme Court appeared poised on Wednesday to upend a key provision of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, a move that could gut a pillar of landmark civil rights legislation and prohibit lawmakers from using race as a factor in drawing voting maps.”
DEI -is- a merit based principle. DEI means that more candidates are brought forward to be assessed for their merits, before being rejected for their skin, their handicap, their gender, their sexual orientation, etc. It brings all candidates to the same line in the hiring process as the straight white man (like Poilievre) who would otherwise be put first. The "comfortable" candidate who will "fit in" (regardless of their qualifications), especially the ones with all the same "connections".
DEI does not "force" anybody to be hired, it merely keeps them in the competition. Anti-DEI rhetoric is inconsistent with merit-based principles, period. If you're scared of DEI, then you're scared of competition and want to remain safe in your privilege.

Report: A US judge has ruled that the Trump administration "unlawfully targeted pro-Palestine student activists with deportation to silence criticism of Israel, violating their right to free speech."

"Body camera footage released from a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid in upstate New York earlier this month caught federal agents calling immigrants “animals” and bragged about the number of “illegals” detained — despite that not being the case in at least one instance."
"“I would not let anybody out of their cells, so we did it in an orderly fashion, had them all lined up. It’s bathroom time, or it’s f— brush your teeth time, or it’s food time. Other than that, nope, your a— is staying in there. ‘But you can’t do that.’ I absolutely can. ‘I need a phone call.’ No you don’t. ‘I need to go to medical.’ Nope, you look good to me,” the agent said, mimicking a conversation with a person detained.
He continued to say that they kept the bathrooms inside the cells where people were held.
“They’re, they’re animals anyway. That’s what I would tell my kids all the time,” said the agent, who said he worked in the “intelligence unit.”"
Francesca Albanese spoke at the Together For Palestine event in London:
“Such cruelty did not start 700 days ago. For nearly a century, the Palestinian people have lived under the weight of a brutal settler colonial project."
“Britain planted the seed of this catastrophe w/ the Balfour Declaration, promising away a land that was not theirs to give"

I'm delighted to share that our special issue of Geschichte & Gesellschaft on "Racism and Antiracism in Europe", edited by Thục Linh Nguyễn Vũ and me, has been published.
"It provides historical depth to current debates by examining the history of #racism and #antiracism in the Federal Republic of Germany, Switzerland, and Poland, asking how racialized thinking is constructed, encoded, normalized, and put to work, and showing how antiracist actions have exposed and contested these discourses and practices. Taken together, the articles in this special issue retrieve local and national histories while challenging ingrained notions of “non-racialized” Europe that emerged in opposition to the racist atrocities of the era of European colonialism and National Socialism." (From our introduction.)

I dont know what to say. Hyundai is building a 15 billion dollar battery plant in Georgia.
ICE just raided the plants and arrested over 400 people, including executives from LG, who not only make more than half of the TV screens in the US, but automotive batteries.
This is an ongoing racist crisis, and news reports will be covering this for weeks, but at least 30 Koreans were seized.
In his last book before he was assassinated, MLK said white ameriKKKa would rather throw away democracy altogether and "embrace a native form of fascism" to preserve their power.
