Good story, but not much that is new. The relationship could be seen way early into the read, and it was a bit too similar to the previous. I did like that it was mostly self contained, we do know it will be a trilogy, but it wasn't just a setup for the rest of the books.

I am so torn by this book. At points I absolutely loved it, but afterwards I am left feeling like something was missing.

So I think part of this is that this is actually set in the [book:The Dragons of Dorcastle|23379245] universe, and seems to be a continuation of that story, so you got lots of peaks at things that were going on in that world which I wish I understood the background to.

I guess I am going to have to read that series before anymore of this.

On the other hand this is a really good story in it's own right, and I never felt lost as to what was going on with the characters, they were fun and well developed, and I really enjoyed following their adventure.
