Following his death by a mystery assailant, Harry Dresden, Winter Knight to Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness, must gather his friends and allies, prevent the annihilation of countless innocents, and find a way out of his eternal subservience before his newfound powers claim the only thing he has left to call his own ... his soul.

This one went full tilt from start to finish. The culmination of a number of stories leads us to this massive event. Probably to 3 favorites of the series... Maybe even to 2... The knock against it has to do with how it ended, after so much setup and so much other stuff, events push people into situations that I didn't care for. But we'll see where things go from here.

Another compelling read though at this point I am not sure where this series is going. That was book 14 in the series and every book the villains are getting tougher, bigger, better, more impossible to beat. I enjoy the overlying story arc and references to when Harry was a plain private eye but it's getting a bit ridiculous at times, the power level. He sure leveled up, feels like.

The end was a whopper and I have to keep reading to see how that all plays out.
