In this alternately chilling and hilarious sequel to The Atrocity Archives (2004) from Hugo-winner Stross, Bob Howard is a computer übergeek employed by the Laundry, a secret British agency assigned to clean up incursions from other realities caused by the inadvertent manipulation of complex mathematical equations: in other words, magic. Howard, Bob * * Howard

Content warning In this book, it is revealed that Bob's middle names are "Oliver Francis". His last name is Howard. That makes his initials BOFH. If that doesn't ring a bell, go ahead and search for "Bastard Operator From Hell" and enjoy!

Review of 'The Jennifer Morgue' on 'Goodreads'

A little more "Bond" and a little less "sci-fi" than its predecessor, The Jennifer Morgue continues the Lovecraftian secret agent adventures of Bob. I enjoyed the short story that followed the main story within the book (because it was ZERO Bond and all sci-fi), and was disappointed that it was so short. As long as the next book borrows less heavily from a standard James Bond film and steers back towards geeky crime mystery and adventure territory, I'll be very pleased. And if it doesn't, I'll still keep reading.
