Gavin Guile thought he had five years left--now he has less than one. With fifty thousand refugees, a bastard son, and an ex-fiancée who may have learned his darkest secret, Gavin has problems on every side. All magic in the world is running wild and threatens to destroy the Seven Satrapies. Worst of all, the old gods are being reborn, and their army of color wights is unstoppable. The only salvation may be the brother whose freedom and life Gavin stole sixteen years ago.

Following up on a great series opener is always a tough one, but I thought The Blinding Knife did this admirably. It didn't grab me as much as the first book, with less 'Aha!' moments but it still had surprising twists and turns. I specifically enjoyed Kip far more than in the first book, as he was less hormonally driven, bewildering teenage boy now. Though I still regularly wanted to smack his head for being an idiot.
I'll be curious to see how Gavin will fare now as the series goes on and am excited to pick up the next book soon!
Massively better than the first. The characters seemed to make more logical choices for their personalities and much more was defined into what drive them. Kip was much more fleshed out and the intrigue with many more are keeping me riddled with anticipation. The side story that came full circle in the end was the only low point, it bothered me from the start...I hope things are clearer in the next book.
