Decent follow up to The Girl with All the Gifts. The story was well thought out and a nice clean prequel to Girl. What I found problematic was the utter lack of hope. We have an idea of what happens to Rosie from the original book, and so you are simply walking through significant dispare. In Girl you always had hope, even when evil people did evil things, there was hope. It couldn't find any here until the final chapter.
