not entirely ininteresting, but in the end it's just a YA fairy-tale with a little to much mixed in.

не певен... окремі фрагменти читаються цікаво й легко: ті, де події розвиваються швидко. решта — повільні, заплутані діалоги або монологи, в якх я плутався (на слух, бо аудіокнижка) як мале дитя... коротше кажучи, таке.

Our heroes are back… kind of. From the bestselling co-authors of the Illuminae Files comes …

one star for being literate, anothe one for the effort. honestly, this book is so disgustingly pathetic, so naïvely cartoonish, it's almost physically painful to read. i could only finish it because i was too lazy to turn the audioplayer off and go look for something else to listen to.

not impressed. difficult for me to analyse, but some of the reviewers here who gave 3 stars do a great job of sharing their experiences that i find similar to mine.

i don't know... as far as spy thrillers go, this one beats the 007 series imho, but the part of "uncle theodore" (roosevelt) reminds so strongly the soviet "grandaddy lenin" children's propaganda that it's not even funny ; what was the need for that ugly stuff?

3/5 at best: a collection of anecdotes and trivia loosely assembled around the (mostly) history of the western household culture — (not) a bit too loosely for my taste. also, did i really need that chapter on child mortality?

some parts of this are like watching summer glau sequencer of «mission serenity» again (the bar fight?!), reading «hitchhiker's guide» (data entries?!) etc. overall, it's so much weaker than «the illuminae files», so teens-only that even the audiobook voice acting doesn't save it.

ok, where do i begin... with over two thousand reviews and rated at four stars, «revelation space» should be one of the masterpieces one is looking for when combing through one's library's records for their next sci-fi read, right? right? having finished the book, i've looked through reviews to see what people like about this one. every second review stresses that the novel's packed with great ideas on a global scale... why then does «revelation» seems so... bland and difficult to read? great ideas are necessary but not sufficient, one looks for characters to connect to, for a story one wouldn't be able to put down, for writing that would immerse one into the unique atmosphere of that story... well, maybe the «revelation» isn't just my sort of sci-fi.
