Gary wants to read A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine
Gary reviewed Spinward Fringe: Rogue Assembly by Randolph Lalonde (Spinward Fringe)
A masterpiece of personal scifi
5 stars
I don't even remember when I started reading from Mr LaLonde, but I have been a huge fan of the Spinward Fringe series since I discovered it years ago. It's my absolute favorite type of scifi, space opera, military, bounty hunter, far future technology, and amazing characters. The fact that the whole series continues to thrive and grow is amazing and I feel like I can never get enough! Rogue Assembly is a side-story that may grow into something more and I can't wait! This was a fantastic first-person recounting by Rogue and I loved it! This is a character that I need more in stories because she is giving rebirth to the origins of the whole series, but in a new place and time. If you like this book, you will love the Spinward Fringe series.

Gary reviewed The Keeper of Secrets: A SciFi Adventure by T.S. Falk
Another great story, maybe the end?
4 stars
I liked this story the most of the last three I read though it leaves me wondering if this is the end. I kind-of want a little more even though this story line is likely used up. It's full of the usual plot, characters, and obstacles but is surprising the way it involves "The Church" in the whole story. I definitely recommend this but read the series in total - don't start at the end!

Gary reviewed The Artifact (First Contact) by Peter Cawdron (First Contact)
One of my favorites by Mr Cawdron!
5 stars
The First Contact series is sort-of an anthology of different stories or ideas of how "First Contact" might occur. The Artifact is the latest in Mr Cawdron's series and maybe one of my favorites. The story is about a lot of speculation and action that finally culminates in a disagreement of theories and how to proceed. The Artifact follows many of these stories showing how human nature will always be the disrupting factor in any potential First Contact. This book is really well written with very descriptive backstories and scenes, well-developed characters, and climax that doesn't end when you think it does. In fact, the "ending" is a bit of a surprise, followed by a follow-up that is even more fascinating, and then a short chapter that could be the introduction to a part 2! I loved this book and can't wait for more First Contact stories.

Gary reviewed The Calypso Mystery: A SciFi Adventure by T.S. Falk
Another interesting book in the series
3 stars
This was also a good book that merges a bit of scifi with archeology, and it played out well. I found the story predictable but interesting nevertheless. It was a little weird reading this as #5 while it's actually a story that takes place between book #3 and #4, but it's fine if you remember its place.
