Review of 'Cryptonomicon' on 'Goodreads'

4 stars

So many of my friends have been telling me I should read this book. I was at the RSA conference this year and it was listed as one of the 20 security books I should have read so I finally picked it up.
1) Really enjoyed the book. From a story perspective it was interesting to see them weave history and fiction together. The connections between WWII and present day (1990s) technology was a great way of telling the story, even if the family relations seemed a bit stretched.
2) Security and cryptology. This was very cool, I enjoyed this aspect probably more than the story. Seeing practical foundations of modern cryptography defined in history helped explain a bunch of things for me.

definitely a read ...
