I've been meaning to read 1984 for years, since it's of course a classic, but hadn't gotten around to it until recently. I enjoyed the writing style, but I think I expected the plot to be a bit more like that of Fahrenheit 451 and it came off as a bit disappointing in comparison. Not that I think it actually should have been more like Fahrenheit 451, just that it is a significantly more depressing story when you're half-expecting at least some small thread of hope at the end.
