reviewed Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse (Between Earth and Sky, #1)

Rebecca Roanhorse: Black Sun (Paperback, 2021, Gallery / Saga Press)

A god will return When the earth and sky converge Under the black sun

Sun priestesses and crow gods

A captivating fantasy world built with Latin or central American elements. This felt a little like Game of Thrones in the Americas, but we'll written and without all the shittiness. The various stories pulled through to the climax, but there is much more to learn in the rest of the trilogy. I look forward to it.

reviewed Artificial Condition by Martha Wells (The Murderbot Diaries, #2)

Martha Wells: Artificial Condition (2018)

It has a dark past - one in which a number of humans were killed. …

Fun next adventure with murderbot

The second adventure with the self-styled murderbot was a quick, fun read. This had echoes of the hilarious depressed disinterested yet obsessed with observations of the humans around it. With the help of a new ship AI ally ART, we find out more about murderbots past.

Molly Gloss: The dazzle of day (1997, Tor) No rating

Sci-Fi oddity in a couple of ways. While this was mostly set on a space ship headed to a new planet. The focus was on human relationships, Quaker process, and nature. I enjoyed this focus, but it was a little frustrating that the book didn't have a clear protagonist or much of a plot beyond the basic setup.
