This was a bit of a mixed bag. Not sure whether it was the audio format or just the book, but the beginning was somewhat confusing to follow, and I still don't fully get the reasoning for the FMC's actions at the end.
Other than that: the world-building (and magic system) are pretty solid, if limited, but the story overall is somewhat easy to predict (except one twist <spoiler> - that we're dealing with brothers, though that also gets somewhat foreshadowed</spoiler>) ).
It was an ok way to spend an afternoon, and I'll probably read the rest of the books, since they are short and entertaining. The romance here *is* nice though, especially if you like a headstrong (and tortured) FMC and mysterious broody MMC combo.
