So I imported all my books and reviews from Storygraph, but there are some surprise ISBN shenanigans (it seems hehe). If something doesn't make sense at all, it's probably because the code sabotaged it^^
Me: a ravenous fantasy (smut) reader, but I used to be more into SFF and who knows, a bunch of those on my TBR... I like writing reviews, and I read whatever tickles my brain or catches my eye. Recommendations welcome!

Solid book, interesting take on why demons collect souls.
I really enjoyed magic misfirings and the rules binding the accidentally-summoned demon Oz to a witch. No huge surprises here, of course they get closer and fall for each other. This was a cute and comfy read, and I laughed a couple of times. Will read the other books of the series as well, but probably not right away.

This was a bit of a mixed bag. Not sure whether it was the audio format or just the book, but the beginning was somewhat confusing to follow, and I still don't fully get the reasoning for the FMC's actions at the end.
Other than that: the world-building (and magic system) are pretty solid, if limited, but the story overall is somewhat easy to predict (except one twist <spoiler> - that we're dealing with brothers, though that also gets somewhat foreshadowed</spoiler>) ).
It was an ok way to spend an afternoon, and I'll probably read the rest of the books, since they are short and entertaining. The romance here is nice though, especially if you like a headstrong (and tortured) FMC and mysterious broody MMC combo.

4* - Ends on a soft cliffhanger (ie the story isn't finished, this is only book 1, but it has a finished first arc and doesn't end mid scene or on some huge emotional open question). - spice 4/5 (lots and detailed)
I've read quite a lot by Katee Robert so far (Bloodline Vampires, Wicked Villains, Dark Olympus, and some I'm probably forgetting now) and really love their writing style. This book didn't disappoint: the story flows well, the POVs are well done (and we love a plucky heroine). The love story could have been more drawn out, I do like a bit of a slow burn, but it does work like this as well. <spoiler>I did think that it felt a tad abrupt in some places, for both of them. Lust, yes, but the sudden love admissions were a tad sudden and I don't think it suits the characters, …

Plus, the overarching arc is set up now as well <spoiler>- so we can wonder, who is the rebellion group, who is the leader, will the Council fall or be defeated?</spoiler>.
So to sum up: A feel-good book, easy to get into and fast-paced, driven by a (slightly chaotic) love story and spiiiice, with interesting world-building and a lighthearted vibe. Much lighter and less serious than Dark Olympus, so if you want intricate politics then you might be disappointed. If you want to feel good and read about ships, the sea, a dashing captain, with dragons and vampires and witches.. then you'll have a good time reading this!
5* from me. Was this a read I couldn't put down? No. Was it super spicy? Also no (but some spice and worth it!). But it was WONDERFUL.
The FMC doesn't speak and uses sign language - and it's done wonderfully! I so enjoyed seeing this represented in a book, and for a main character as well! Sad that it is so uncommon, but I think it works really, really well here.
The MMC is adorable. Kind of a "is he the bad guy" to "nope he is not", mysterious man, kind (but also setting boundaries), he falls first (he admits it first, at least) but gives her the space to make informed decisions (Informed, I say!). There is discussion of birth control. There is a second love interest and the FMC is torn about them - and there is open discussion of past loves. And understanding that our (romantic) …

Pacing was good as well, and the tension at the end of book 1 is so high, honestly, I'm a little anxious to read on right away - I know it will end well (I hope), but when I say there are tense moments, there really are. I don't often feel so much emotion reading a book, but especially in a year where I've read 130+ fantasy romance novels this one STANDS OUT. That alone is saying a lot.
So, I've already started reading the next book (though taking it slow), and if you like intricate world-building, a grown up FMC with some experience, a kind and pretty damn hot MMC who respects her... then this one is for you!

spice 4/5 (very good spice!!)
I immediately jumped into this from Book 1, and I was not disappointed. The cliffhanger in Book 1 is less easy to predict than the one here, and I went in already mad about Book 3 not being out because I knew what was coming. Beware this book if you don’t like unfinished series, this will leave you hurting.
Spoiler for cliffhanger <spoiler> I thought it was pretty obvious that the price for resurrecting Samkiel would be something to do with their finally-admitted love. I’m expecting him to have lost feeling for her maybe in the next one, since she still seems to have feelings for him? Unsure, but I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m excited to see how that gets resolved, though, since I fully expect everyone to live and love again.</spoiler>

The world-building continues in this book, and at this length it gets pretty detailed. I’d argue it is close to being a bit too much in terms of characters to remember, side stories to follow, who feels or felt what and why. So many gods, so many celestials! Getting more info about Logan and Neverra made sense, but while I really really want Cameron and Xavier to also get a happy ending, I think their unadmitted love doesnt hit enough (yet?) to make the actions towards the end of the book make sense. <spoiler>In general, this whole “suddenly everyone’s the enemy” reminded me of the Hydra-takes-over storyline in the MCU which also felt like it came out of nowhere...</spoiler>
I did also like the banter a LOT and had some laugh out loud or big grin moments while reading it. It might be one I pick up again, though that also depends on Book 3… no release date yet afaict, so that’s super sad. But I heard that the author got a series deal, so hope springs eternal!
Recommend this book if you like big epic stories (some parts had a whiff of LOTR for me), deliciously spicy spice, lovely banter, hot flirting… and a journey out of depression and grief. It’s such a good book.
This is an adventurous and pretty funny story about a psychic. The plot follows both Diana teaming up with Blake and trying to bust a child trafficking ring and her own quest to find out about her past. I found the pacing here well done and it made me keep listening.
The book itself is pretty straight-forward, some expected things (spark between Diana and the PI), some slightly cringe ones (the gay best assistant... idk, was a bit eeeeeeh), some unexpected (a twist on fated mates, even if the plot twist at the end was a little obvious to me).
I'd still recommend this to anyone who likes a nice slow burn, some tension between the MCs, mythology, psychics, and a fun adventure.
I really enjoyed listening to this book!

This was a tricky one. I'm usually a fast quick reader, but this took me a couple weeks to get through, and it was such a slog sometimes. So what happened is... this book is paced terribly. There is a review further down by @anotherreadingblonde that really sums it up nicely: the potential is great, the pacing is terrible.
I am a huge ACOTAR fan (and I guess ToG is ok), though not a huge fan of Aelin (at all) and Feyre (mostly). The way this story (and universe) are built is very similar to SJM's books. You got your mysterious and tortured assassin FMC who turns out to be not only fae, but a (previously lost) fay queen. You got your various courts with their inner circles. You got your Rhys (Sorin), Cassian (Cyrus) and Azriel (Rayner); your Mor (Eliza), your Dorian (Callan) etc. You got a mysterious …

You even got the explanation of different "planes" and beings that can walk through these universes. So if you loved ToG and/or ACOTAR and don't mind reading more of that, this is a great book for you!
That said, the pacing here is horrible at times. I almost DNF'd this multiple times, and at the end of book 2 I want to know what happens next, but I'm also really hesitant to jump into another one bc it was so hard to keep reading at times! Scarlett is depressed for most of the time, which, fair, but also gets a bit old. Compared to Feyre's healing, or Nesta's, this is so hard to get through... there is my nemesis, the miscommunication trope. It's so bad, and so frequent. Yes, all are tortured souls that had to fend for themselves, but at some point in your hundreds of years of life you must have learned to communicate better than this?! The handling of the age gap is fine for the most part, though <spoiler> there is one point where the "you really are ancient haha" banter turns pretty cringe. Sorin says something like that he could have saved her from all the trauma she went through, being raised an assassin etc, if he had only known Elinè had had a child, and I was honestly not sure if this 300+ years old dude would have then, what, raised his twin flame from early childhood (around 3 years old)? It's called grooming, my friend. Plus, you were soulmates with her mother on top of that (platonic in this universe, but still a twining of souls)! Like... ew. No. </spoiler> And the final thing I really hate is that Scarlett acts like Aelin, and I hated how Aelin acted. The deus ex machina moments ("while you were trying to help I acquired the necessary knowledge but didnt tell anyone, but LOOK here is the solution", "there is this notoriously unhelpful character that has been awful for hundreds of years, but we hit it off immediately and they will help us of course", etc). I thought these surprises in ToG were lazy writing and bad planning, ie. you need to get your story to some point so you just magically make that happen), and I didn't like them here.
So where does that leave us. I think this world has huge potential, I just wish it was paced better. I get that some of the endless explanations are necessary to round off a character or make sure we understand the gravity of some future plot point. But I've rarely found a book easier to put down than this one. I even started reading two (!) other stories at the same time, which is unusual for me.
I don't regret reading it, but I think I might need a break before delving into the next book. Should you read it? If you're someone who likes these expansive worlds, you will definitely enjoy this one, and it being a finished series is a huge plus here as well! If you need plots to move and don't have a lot of patience for the in-between details, you may wanna pass.
Really enjoyed this book even if it didn't make me stay up all night to read on. That's not to say it's boring, but there may be some slight pacing issues at times. I find it hard sometimes to stick with Scarlett sometimes, probably because she reminds me of ToG's Aelin a lot - and I didn't like her. She is also an assassin, also adopted by the Assassin Lord as a child, also has foggy memories of a mother that may have been more than human, etc. Lives in a place where magic is not working. Let's just say, if you liked ToG, you'll also like this.
I'm much more interested in the MMC. I find that the big reveals here are somewhat obvious early on <spoiler> like that he is the Fire Prince; I thought that one was so clear to start with... I did like the twist …

I did like the twist about him being her target, even if not terribly surprising at the point where it's revealed.</spoiler>.
What I didn't like are the secrets upon secrets, and the complaints about them... again, reminded me of Aelin, and I'm not a huge fan. I feel like the MFC feels really young and somewhat immature against the MMC. I do appreciate the treatment of trauma here, though. <spoiler> The way that her shutting down is often portrayed, esp between books 1 and 2 is pretty intense... </spoiler>.
And finally, the world-building is really good here, loads going on, but revealed - for the most part - in a way that makes you want to learn more. The only complaint here is the use of "better not call her" without any hint who she might be. I find that annoying.
All that said, heed the CNs, this gets dark. But it's good, and I'm already reading the next book!

I just absolutely adore this series! It's one of the few that I can't wait to be finished before I read, so instead I join the masses in the painful wait for the next volume to see what happens next!
So, this one is an open poly knot, there is hate fucks and sweet dating, there is a new poly relationship, old lovers, broken hearts, and incredibly hot scenes with them. That first night with Adonis, Theseus, and Eris? YES. Spice is 5/5 for me, and Katee Robert is just so imaginative when it comes to spicy scenes!
I love the politics of the Dark Olympus series, and I've read some of the books multiple times already... and can't wait for the next.

5* from me.
So this is my first pirate romance (ever), and it delivered! I love Ramsay and I love Maren, and I read this off two lines quoted in some short video and knew nothing else about anything. Which was exactly the right way to read this, I think!
The pacing is really good, there is humor, it's frustrating sometimes (so angsty all around) but the characters' actions make sense. They talk about what is going on with them emotionally. Maybe not always instantly, but the fact that this doesnt have a lot of the miscommunication trope is a HUGE plus. It actually felt so much more real: sometimes you can tell what's up, sometimes you need a while to get the courage to speak. You grow, you leave things behind.

“Play nice,” he warns, his grip tight and bruising as he presses me against the wall. I manage to move my throat enough to spit in his face. My spit lands on his forehead, a sliver of fish bone in it. He grunts and reaches up with his other hand, wiping it away. “Do it again,” he whispers, eyes dancing darkly. “This time in my mouth, please.” He opens his mouth, showing me his tongue, wanting it. Damn it. Everything that’s uncouth and repulsive about me he somehow loves. He shuts his mouth and grins. “Fine. Just know I will be returning the favor one day.”
Like omg yes.
By the way, I didn't get the Jack Sparrow vibe that others talk about here. Yes, there is rum, but Ramsay often stays sober, isn't some whacky figure, just a hard-ass pirate (and kinky af).
So TL;DR this is dark romance, it's believable, it has pirates and sirens and cursed ships and it is dark. Heed the CNs, and if you're sensitive to violence, <spoiler> esp spousal and sexual abuse, </spoiler> maybe skip this one.
Re-read this because the next book of the series is out and I wanted to refresh my memory - this was the first book I finished this year, and I liked it on my second pass as well. I slightly prefer the story from Hades' POV, though am looking forward to the next one in the timeline, which will be Persephone's POV again.
Things I dislike:
Noted this in another review, but the sex scenes are a bit template-y feeling after a while. It's not hugely imaginative, and the language can be a turn off for me. They are spicy though, just not as appealing to my brain as other authors can be.
I also just violently hate the miscommunication trope. So, so many problems, dangers, and fights could be avoided by talking, and I'm just having a hard time with believing that any eons-old god (whether they are experienced …

Things I like:
Hermes! Somehow we love the trickster in all their incarnations (I don't think I've come across an unlikable Hermes yet?). Definitely bringing the sass.
In this book in particular, I really like that there are real-world (and impactful) consequences to MC's actions. As sad as the story gets, I'm glad that there isn't some loophole or some magical cure-all that pops up and fixes it. I feel that this gives the story more depth.
I'm fully smitten with the characters here: Aria is strong willed and just goes for what she wants, the three demons are a mix of hesitant-but-willing, just gorgeously decadent, and wild beast, so the best of everything. Spice is so well done here, 5/5.
Can't wait to see what Cassiel the baby Lynx turns out to be...^^

Picked this up with no/low expectations, mainly was expecting a run of the mill monster fantasy book - but was really surprised at how much I loved the characters and writing here! This is a reverse harem/why choose that ends on a cliffhanger (but books 1-7 are out already). Delightful smut in here, love it! (4/5)
We meet Aria who ends up being given to three demons as payment for her foster father's debts. Pretty dark in places (sexual abuse/foster care), but also just delightfully funny! I couldn't get enough and just read straight on to the next book when I finished.
I think you'll like this if you liked Kimberley Lemming's Mead Mishaps series (less diverse characters here, but similar type of fun/ tone), and also if you like a bit of kink.
Incredibly enjoyable read!

When I started the book I was intrigued by the premise, but this is just bad and confusing writing (the contemporary references in a medieval setting?), and I didn't know what was going on for a good while. The world building here is somewhat extensive, but you get thrown in without explanation. This can be an interesting approach when the writing is good... but it isn't working here.
Also not a fan of the non-consensual sexual acts, and without going into too much detail, I don't think that the scenes I read are questionable consent but just straight out coercion. <spoiler> Making somebody pleasure themselves or making them orgasm by force - even if you're not personally touching them - is not ok, and it's not sexy. Suggesting a "she enjoyed it" angle here is hugely problematic and was ultimately what made me DNF. </spoiler>

Another 5* in this series. Extremely funny (as in many, many moments of actual loud giggling) and delightfully quirky. I loved all books from the series, and I'm so happy I stumbled across them!
The cast here is always diverse, different shapes, sizes, and colors of humans and demons. Dante is just cute trying to not break the people he interacts with, and it's nice to see that Cherry does make it back home in the end. Extra points from me for NOT ending with a pregnancy.
Spice is lovely here, 4/5 for the slow sizzle that turns into a hot burn. We love recurring characters like Alexis the cursed sword. On that note, also love how seemingly "this is probably too silly" ideas just work. I particularly enjoy the recurring image of rivaling taverns as well.
