Okay I liked this book, it's alright science fantasy, heavy on the fantasy...

But god the relationship between the main characters is awful and doesn't even really matter to the story. The story isn't improved in anyway by its marginal inclusion, it's just baffling. Why why why it's so gross

Nicholas Tampio: Learning versus the Common Core (Paperback, University of Minnesota Press) 1 star

This book is odd to me because this series is usually so rigorous—this book doesn't even have references! I can understand many criticisms of Common Core but this is written by (and for) the aggrieved parent-activist, not the professor of political theory.

I should have just read some John Dewey lol

Fritz Leiber, Jeff Jones: The Swords of Lankhmar (Paperback, 1968, Ace Books, Inc.) 4 stars

Enjoyable. Wasn't sure I was going to like the single-story structure compared to the short stories of past volumes but by the end it grew on me. The alien guy on the cover didn't stick around for long though, which was odd.

Cool ghoul. Sheelba and Ningauble content always a highlight.

A lot could be said about racialization in this volume.
