A neat exercise in world building but it felt like so much of the story and so many of the characters just didn't matter.

It honestly read like a blog record of someone's solo ttrpg, guided entirely by random encounter tables. So much could have been edited out. This should not have been four volumes.

I did like the style of unexplained terminology and vague descriptions of technology. I also liked the subtle Catholic influences. Weirdly, I may reread someday.
