Keith Malley: Keith and the Girl's What do we do now? (2010, Three Rivers Press)

Review of "Keith and the Girl's What do we do now?" on 'Goodreads'

This book isn't really for anyone than those already familiar with the show. Even though the back of the book lists this as self-help/relationship (or something along those lines), it really isn't. It should more appropriately be labeled a parody, and it should appear only in the comedy section. Pretending it's a "real" relationship book is just as silly as pretending a zombie invasion survival book is real. The questions answered were obviously selected for the amount of comedy potential, much like a Jay Leno bit. Maybe it's just that the intended audience is much younger than I am--or at least, much, much dumber.

I very much enjoy Keith and Chemda's podcast and find them LOL funny, but their humor doesn't really translate all that well to the written page--for me. I did laugh at several sections, but overall the book is kind of a dud. It's just not the kind of book I enjoy reading, even in short bursts. I should've been able to finish reading this book in a day or two, or even a week. But when I realized my reading stack was getting backed up for weeks because I was avoiding this, I had to admit I probably wouldn't finish the book.

I bought this as a way to "support the show" as they appealed to their audience, but I probably won't buy any more KATG books sight unseen. I understand that many of their listeners find this book hilarious, and I can't say that they're ridiculous for their opinion. Let's just say this book simply isn't for me.
