The anime announcement finally prompted me to re-read and catch up with this series and aaaa!! I really do love it. The art is stunning, the characters are all really fun, the attention to detail with the worldbuilding is lovely, and above all I'm really happy it continues to deliver on early promises of themes of disability & queerness 💗 I think the only point where witch hat falls short for me is the pacing. Normally I'm all for slow series that take time to explore and develop characters without caring too much about moving the plot along... but somehow it just doesn't hit here. It often feels like scenes are drawn out over several chapters when they don't need to be and it doesn't add anything to make it longer. I did finish my read through of the whole series wondering if we really needed 11 volumes to get to this point 🤷‍♂️ At least there's pretty art to admire on the way. But regardless, I'm really looking forward to seeing where the series goes from here!
