I read this as part of Banned Books week. (It came out long after I had graduated from school.) It should be required reading for students (at least at the Jr. High level and above), and for politicians.
Reviews and Comments
My reading tends to go in spurts. I love mysteries and suspense, poetry, history, cookbooks, bios, photography collections (ok, anything.). I’m open to any recommendations, especially trying to discover and read great BIPOC authors.

Bec finished reading Barracoon by Zora Neale Hurston
This story of Zora Neale Hurston interviewing one of the last then-surviving slaves kidnapped from Africa was not published during her lifetime because she refused to change his dialect to something easier for white audiences. It is truly gripping to hear him tell his story in his own words.
