Fun and philosophical take on the act of translation
4 stars
Quite a unique book. Part travelogue, part navel gaze, part meditation on the joy and challenges of language. Language and culture intertwine to shape the limits of thought and the scope of lived experience... A pretty quick read, but well worth your time

Content warning Not really able to spoil this, but if you like to go in fresh then ignore the review and just get the book
Oh boy. This is a great and deep book on musical practice. Mark Fell touches on a huge range of subjects with a characteristically iconoclastic world view. At times funny, at times touching, anarchic in presentation and content, it's a truly dizzying collection of writings, drawings, interviews, diagrams and death threats. For the philosophically inclined there's a lot to get your teeth into. If you're interested in taking on established suppositions and hidden cognitive biases in relation to music and performance, this is your go to.

Some quality airport fiction from King.

Content warning Mild spoiler - but no in depth spoiler.
I'm a sucker for Stephen King. His world building is phenomenal and this book is no exception. There's a few phases in this one - the setup, the aftermath, the twisty redirect - all peppered with flashbacks to formative experiences for the titular character. Even though I wasn't the biggest fan of the cartoonishly evil villain - the ending got me. Genuinely had a tear in my eye...even though you could see it coming a mile off. Really enjoyable throughout - good non-horror King.

Worth a look!
4 stars
Even if you're not a big PG fan this is an interesting, light, conversational tour through his life and work. At times philosophical, at times a who's who of artists, composers, and poets. Fun, sometimes illuminating, and occasionally surprising... Give it a whirl.

Content warning Really mild spoilers for general themes.... No detailed giveaways!
An enjoyable autobiography. Absolutely dizzying number of names dropped in the most casual and conversational style. Parts of Glass' story read almost like a fairy tale of good fortune and musical opportunity. With a look even if you're only minimally (lol) aware of his music.
