Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a good magical murder mystery with fun world building and a cathartic conclusion. I figured out some stuff with/ahead of the characters, and felt that the reveals had been well set up. Lots of people being good at what they do, which is one of my favorite things.

Initially dnf, because one of the stories has a sexual assault scene I wasn't expecting that put me off it.

Eventually read the last couple stories. Has many favourite authors, but unfortunately most of the stories didn't resonate with me, which is a shame since I was excited for this anthology.

Sci fi x political thriller x some romance, set in an empire full of poetry, narrative, allusions and military, where the main character is an ambassador who sees both the beauty and the threat it is. I loved this book, looking forward to the sequel.

A solid short novel about a T Kingfisher style heroine: uncertain, doesn't want to be a hero but does the right thing anyway when it matters. Mona is a Wizard of Bread, which ends up getting used in many creative ways, including a sourdough starter familiar and gingerbread person familiar.

Aside from the lively plot, I enjoyed the commentary on heroes & the necessity of heroics, and the quiet moments with her uncle, Molly & the general.

Charming tales of the Dapper Capybara pirate Cinrak. I thoroughly enjoyed the world full of all sorts of rodents, cats, merfolk, lovable kraken and glass whales, with sentient stars and wild adventures. I wish there had been more it it - it's structured as a collection of short stories, and I wanted more about the time in between the tales, more details about character interactions and growth

Short, emotional story from Mensah's perspective set just before Network Effect. Always fun to see how Murderbot is perceived by those around it, especially by someone as fond if it as Mensah.
