Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a good magical murder mystery with fun world building and a cathartic conclusion. I figured out some stuff with/ahead of the characters, and felt that the reveals had been well set up. Lots of people being good at what they do, which is one of my favorite things.

This book fall into the "quick read" category. It won't make you think too much, but that's just fine if that's what you're looking for. A very good action book with more than enough depth to keep you engaged.
Magic in this book is portrayed as having evolved into an adjunct legal system. So that magicians are like lawyers. It's one of the interesting twists in this book, and there are lots more.
