Review of 'Monster Wrestling' on 'Storygraph'

I love monster girls so when this popped up on my suggested list, I just put it in my cart without question. I regret this decision.

I'll start with a complaint you'll see echoed throughout most reviews: The art style is confusing and difficult to understand. Multiple pages go by at times without me being able to understand what exactly is going on, who is moving where, etc. Apparently a character gets their arm bitten off early on. I could not tell that's what happened until the NEXT CHAPTER. For this reason alone, I recommend you not read this book.

It has more gore and violence than I expected. I don't tend to mix gore and sexy stories together and the mixture just turned me off even more. I was expecting something similar to WWE wrestling with no blood or serious injuries, just tentacle pins of big breasted monster girls in exotic wrestling outfits. Instead people are nearly torn apart limb from limb in the first volume with the promise of even worse bloodshed in future bouts.

The book does have plenty of sexiness, but it delivers in weird ways. Insects crawling up and down a character's legs and framing her ass as she has dick shaped insects burrowing into her mouth, choking her. The octopus girl giving plenty of tentacle porn style panels is actually one of the better parts of this book and is the first time I've seen tentacles that didn't immediately turn me away. Despite the few uplifting parts, the art just wasn't well done enough for me to even finish the book to see all the interesting poses and situations through to the end.
