It was wonderful.
At first I was a bit worried about how graphic it was but I realize how much that solidifies the feelings between the characters throughout the book. Very honest and I related so much to the words and feelings expressed throughout the book.
I told my partner "where was this book when I was growing up?", even though I have been out for many years, I really think this sort of literature would have made me feel more comfortable with myself sooner (as is expressed in the interview at the end!)

meh, there were some great points made but I found it just turned into a bitch fest about life. Maybe it's because I'm not religious so I found those part painful to get through. Hard to follow and I found the imagery a mess. I kept waiting for the next chapter to tie it all together but for me it never seemed to. Every second it third paragraph was compelling enough for me to keep reading but I have no desire to continue.
Rating it 3/5 for the couple of laughs and tearful moments I felt actually hit and the point of view of a PoC that I haven't experienced.
