Why watch it?

Well, come for the sexy robber of money from banks, but stay for the writing, acting, and characters. Everything is entirely believable and top-notch stuff. The pacing is realistically uneven, with time taken on slow portions of ‘regular life,’ just as things understandably become thrilling in the ‘bank caper’ sequences.

WARNING: foul language, violence, nudity, and suggestive scenes.

Charismatic people who have a working brain can do just about anything they want to.

Alas.

Brenden Abbott chose to rob banks (a bit of a victimless crime, but for the people working there) and break out of prison when caught.

In between, he charmed his way around Australia, stealing an estimated 5M $AU.

I watched this on , but other regions must have it available somehow.

Highly recommended.

Janet and Estes on their porch in the 1960s. Where they lived, in the heart of Appalachia, was rife for real crime stories. Shady sheriffs, grifters. I stumbled upon a shady sheriff in 2017, and after researching that town and the bad lawman and his cronies, I wrote a novella: GOOD OL' BOY, published in '23. I also learned that crime was not my thing.

Janet and her husband Estes in the 1960s. I wrote a book about the crimes committed by lawmen in their neck of the Appalachian woods. It is titled GOOD OL' BOY, and it was written under the pen name, N.J. Edwards. I didn't want any of the creeps I wrote about, knowing my true identity, ha.
My first attempt at being an author in '23 centered around the true crimes I learned about in a remote area of Appalachia. I wrote under the pen name, N.J. Edwards, mainly out of concern for my safety. Even though the book was a fictionalized account of crimes by lawmen, enough people knew I was researching the area. I gave up crime writing after this book. Switched to trashy romance.

I've noticed people using "poignant" when I think they really mean "pointed" and once I noticed it, I cannot unnotice it. But maybe it's only the sphere? Or have you noticed it elsewhere?

Thrilling True Crime

Hooked from the first page, a good and thrilling read. Especially, if you are interested in true crime or cryptocurrencies.

Well written and exciting, Andy Greenberg tells the story of how investigators have managed to dismantle digital black markets and expose the crime lords behind them. (Ross Ulbricht, the criminal, who was sentenced to lifelong prison and now has been pardoned by Donald Trump, for example).

Unfortunately, the concerns that such investigative methods should raise, and the dangers posed by such surveillance tools, are somewhat neglected. I also miss recommendations for in-depth articles or books. But that doesn't detract from the reading experience.

Yeah, when something catches my interest I can get a tad obsessed... I blame World of Books offering titles at little more than a couple of quid each, free postage and 4 for the price of 3 offers!! How can an addict resist!??! 🤪
