Very good book if you want to get really angry about some people you'll hopefully never meet.
It's amazing what some of the family achieved, and disgusting what others in the family were allowed to get away with.

My daughter read this last year in high school. Sounded interesting, but a little gruesome. My wife just finished reading it, and recommended I read it, so I did. And, WOW! She writes well, though she did send me to a dictionary a couple times (protip: a "massif" is "a compact portion of a mountain range, containing one or more summits"). Yes, it has parts that are a little gruesome, and yes, I cringed and shrank a few times, mimicking my daughter's "squinting as [she] read." This book provides insight into education, the role of women, doomsday preppers, anti-government factions, abuse, gaslighting, psychology, and the role of families. Great book.
