Percy Jackson, tome 4 : La bataille du labyrinthe

Percy Jackson and his friends have returned and this time they will need to prevent war from breaking out between the Gods and the Kronos, who is using a massive maze designed by an ancient Greek inventor. The massive maze has entrances all over the world and rumor has it that Kronos, the great Titan lord, has plans to use it to invade Olympus.

Percy, along with Annabeth Chase, Grover Underwood, and new ally Rachel Elizabeth Dare, must navigate through the twisty Labyrinth, facing numerous challenges and dangerous creatures, to find Kronos's plan and prevent the imminent war. Along the way, they encounter various Greek mythological beings, including the Sphinx, Hercules, and the Titan, Atlas.

As the group goes deeper into the Labyrinth, they face several personal challenges, including love triangles, parental issues, and internal conflicts. The book also expands on the conflicts between the gods and their children, as the campers at Camp Half-Blood discover they have been unfairly treated by the gods.

In the end, Percy and his friends can prevent Kronos from using the Labyrinth to invade Mount Olympus. Still, they also discover a devastating secret about someone close to them that will have major repercussions in the series.

Riordan continues to blend humor, adventure, and mythology to bring a tale that will keep a reader engaged and eager to read the further adventures of Percy Jackson and his friends.

Evoluzione dei personaggi (anche quelli secondari) davvero ben costruita, un protagonista che è un po' più del consueto "prescelto" e quel pizzico di critica alla società che è bello vedere in un romanzo per ragazzi.

The penultimate book of the Camp Half-Blood series, Percy Jackson and The Battle of the Labyrinth brings us to probably one of the most famous tales in Greek Mythology; the Labyrinth with a mixture of surprises that are both pleasurable and terrifying in their nature.

"You shall delve in the darkness of the endless maze,
The dead, the traitor, and the lost one raise.
You shall rise or fall by the ghost king’s hand,
The child of Athena's final stand,
Destroy with a hero's final breath,
And lose a love to worst than death."

If I thought I had been on edge reading the previous books in the series, then it was nothing to how I felt reading The Battle of the Labyrinth. Like the nightmare of a place that Theseus down himself facing the Minotaur; there are plot twists a-plenty, and I loved just how much more of the Greek lore is brought into the tale that you will either recognise or like a carrot on a string, chase to learn more about in the plethora of tales out there. Even when you think you know what is happening to our wonderful characters, things suddenly take a twist and you're thrown into the darkness again and like Percy and his friends, will no doubt look again at the Oracle's words to see if you can work out just what clues there are in her in this case, extremely unsettling prophecy.

Percy Jackson and The Battle of the Labyrinth is far darker than the previous three combined, there is more action and more adrenalin inducing situations that will have you no doubt like me, unable to place the book down. It truly feels like everything will go wrong for the heroes as they encounter monsters within the Labyrinth, and anxiety will rush through you as you know they will encounter the truly evil Titan Lord who wants to destroy all they know, love and need.

All is in danger of destruction, and you see that clearly in this book... but love, life, family and all that is good in the world but not perfect is worth fighting for and the fight is wonderfully done by Riordan as always.
