I read this without reading any summaries, or, quite frankly, looking closely at the cover. I was not prepared for how gruesome this would be. This is a war time manga, and it does not pull any punches. Seeing the drawings of cute small school girls against the backdrop of war was jarring. The horrors they witnessed. Took part in. It was a tough read. War should never happen. But look at where we are now.
