"I seen a kid killed...He strangled it, up by the horse."

When Billy, a troubled young man, comes to private eye Cormoran Strike's office to ask for his help investigating a crime he thinks he witnessed as a child, Strike is left deeply unsettled. While Billy is obviously mentally distressed, and cann remember many concrete details, there is something sincere about him and his story. Better Than Career of Evil

As with any writer, Rowling's skill at writing mysteries has improved with each book. I was also interested in the minor character of Della Wynne who is blind. However, I was disappointed by Rowling's portrayal of her. Although she was painted as a successful and well-respected politician, when Strike visited fer at home, she made him pour her wine and bring it into the sitting area. Blind people can pour their own drinks and carry them wherever they like. Later, she knocked over her wine, made Strike clean up the stain, and pour her another glass, which she almost spilled again. I can't tell you the last time that I as a totally blind person spilled a drink. Not that I'm perfect or anything, but I think Rowling made her look inept at taking care of herself. She could have done much better with this character.

The latest installment of the Cormoran Strike series did not disappoint. Robert Galbraith (aka J K Rowling) has crafted an impressively complex murder plot, as well as a family saga, a bit of culture, and an update on the personal lives of Cormoran and Robin. In other words, everything I wanted.

Bravo! I can hardly wait for the next one...
