A sensational addition to the Dresden Files adventures-from a USA Today bestselling author.Professional wizard Harry Dresden is investigating a series of deaths in Chicago. Someone is killing practitioners of magic, those incapable of becoming full-fledged wizards. Shockingly, all the evidence points to Harry's half-brother, Thomas, as the murderer. Determined to clear his sibling's name, Harry uncovers a conspiracy within the White Council of Wizards that threatens not only him, but his nearest and dearest, too...

This was a book of contradictions. At it's core, it's a book about trust. Who do you trust with your life? With your secrets? Trust they are teaching you wisely? Trust they'll have your back? But the problem is that Butcher filled it with to many things, there was just so much going on within the realm of trust, that the story was rushed. I hope the next one takes a step back and reduces the influencers and can pace the story better.

3.5 stars. Another solid entry of the Dresden Files, with plenty of callbacks to previous books, including the Beckitts from Storm Front and events from Blood Rites. As the series progresses, Harry seems to get more and more powerful, and more and more violent. Not sure what to think of it.

The really good Dresden books usually come up with dramatic revelations about Harry's backstory, and in that department I found this book lacking. There were hints that Harry is special, but nothing that had any wow effect on me.

If you liked the previous books, you will probably enjoy it as well, but it's not one of the strongest entries in the series. Still, I will keep reading, of course.
