This is a captivating collection of short stories, verse, and excerpts, which I enjoyed very much.

Leading the way is A Study in Emerald, a creative revision of a classic Sherlock Holmes story that impressed me with its inventiveness. Indeed, there is not a boring story in this collection. There is another narrative that is an homage to an earlier fantasy called The Problem of Susan, which raises a good question about The Narnian Chronicles. Another tale titled, How to Talk to Girls at Parties, is memorable for being hilarious, in my opinion. It's basically about a young teenager who is nervous around girls before going to a party. His more experienced friend assures him that girls are not so different, not aliens. We'll see about that...This story was new to me. Evidently, it's been made into a film. Grosse lecture que ce recueil de nouvelles/poèmes/trucs de Gaiman. J'aurais bien aimé pouvoir faire comme pour [b:L'accroissement mathématique du plaisir|6413124|L'Accroissement mathématique du plaisir|Catherine Dufour|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51-5e3WRkEL.SL75.jpg|6602106] et lister toutes les nouvelles, mais il y en a cette fois nettement plus, et de qualités nettement plus variables.
Cela dit, un certain nombre de ces nouvelles méritent au moins une phrase.

Cette introduction écrite de la main de l'auteur présente rapidement le recueil et donne, pour chaque nouvelle, quelques éléments sur le contexte d'écriture/

2 - Une étude en vert (A Study in Emerald), pages 37 à 67, trad. Michel PAGEL

On comprend facilement pourquoi cette nouvelle a été primée : la rencontre entre Holmes et les grands anciens est évidement intéressante, quoique complexe à mettre en oeuvre, comme l'auteur le dit dans l'introduction.
