Good old-fashioned realist fiction for kids

Fun, relatable childhood adventure story about seeking independence. NYC is a fun backdrop. Some really great vocabulary. I started jotting down "new" words to go over with my 10 year old and there were literally dozens. Lots of older pop-culture references too.
