This was a really interesting read. Dr. Sax outlines five factors which are leading to underachieving boys: schools (specifically, kindergarten today being like grade one 30 years ago and coed classrooms); video games; environmental toxins which mimic estrogen (such as BPA); prescription drugs (prescribed to test a diagnosis of ADHD); and a lack of male role models and rites of passage into manhood.
While the book focuses mainly on explaining the problems, there is some advice about how to deal with them, from parents' leagues against violent video games to where you can buy beverages in glass bottles instead of plastic.
