I did not know what I was really getting when I put it on hold in my library. All I knew is that it's supposed to be good. And it is! It's a fun and quick read. Without knowing where the story goes in further volumes, I'd still say this is a good first introduction to the main characters. I'm looking forward to reading what trouble they're finding themselves in next.
