Was actually reading this via the Dracula Daily emails which have just reached their conclusion. An interesting historical snapshot of the dominant views on gender and race, let's say, and the seemingly-excessive Victorian language was fun to wade through. I enjoyed the diary structure, and just marvelled at how well these characters could recall entire, lengthy and detailed conversations. The ending felt rushed though, and the final confrontation seemed a little lacking, but that might just be because we're so used to spectacular, special-effects filled finales these days!
Reviews and Comments
I'll give this summary a little more thought later, but for now I'll just say I'm really enjoying books by Jeff Noon, Patrick deWitt, Becky Chambers etc. My main Mastodon account is @terry@social.coop. Am I doing this right?
