Reviews are entirely subjective. They're just my opinion of a book. I often pick up books from the library without looking them up, so I don't always know what I'm actually getting.

Review ★s are skewed down because there are no half stars and I want to differentiate between enjoyed, really liked, and loved.

★★★★★ - I loved and probably didn't shut up about it for at least a month ★★★★✫ - I really enjoyed it. ★★★✫✫ - I liked it. ★★✫✫✫ - This book was not for me, but I finished it without much difficulty. ★✫✫✫✫ - I actively put the book down and stopped reading it, or I finished it and regret the time spent.

Cute Animal Murder

I picked this up from the library on a whim. It's not my thing, but it stood out, so I had to take a read.

I'm pretty sure it was well done. The comic panels were easy to follow. The art was clear. The characters had personality.

I didn't like it. But don't let that stop you.

Picked this up based on the summary and a gift card.

Unfortunately, that means it's also a physical book, so we'll see if it can keep my attention.

Princess Floralinda and the Forty-Flight Tower

This was a fun short read. I didn't quite expect the ending, but it made sense in some ways. Especially when I remembered that this is the same author as Gideon the Ninth.

So if you liked Gideon and you like fairy tales, give it a try. It's not a long read.

Rebecca Thorne: Can't Spell Treason Without Tea (AudiobookFormat, 2024, Pan Macmillan)

Can't Spell Treason Without Tea

This was inspired by Legends & Lattes, and for me, it matched the vibes while otherwise being a different story.

I'll probably pick up the sequel, as there are some characters I'm waiting to see get their comeuppance.

Unrelated, names are pretty typically fantasy fare. It's unfortunate that Kianthe's name is phonetically given in the prequel story at the end of the book, and possibly more unfortunate for Feo that I took Spanish in high school.

Predictable, but fun

I enjoyed the world and plot, but could have done without the Romance aspect of the book. (This is true of any book that has a focus on romance, not specific to this book.) It only took me 3 days to read, so that's a plus.

I'm not sure any plot events in the book can count as twists. It seemed to be setting up for a sequel, which would hopefully have more surprises.

Unfortunately, I don't think this book will stick in my head enough to wait for the sequel, but we'll see.

This is probably in my "brain candy" category of books.
