What are you waiting for? Go read this book. Very engrossing, a lot of fun.

Review of 'Unclean' on 'Goodreads'

This book was in some ways mind-blowing. Beck does a compelling job of tying together purity, cleanliness, and death. He argues that we unconsciously make other humans less than human because of their moral decisions or their standing, and that in many ways we are functionally ambivalent about the incarnation of Jesus. I will need to go back to this book in the future; it was very challenging.

I have enjoyed James since God.com; this was an excellent book; I think similarly to him, but his writing on the topic was wonderful.

Amy Pascale: Joss Whedon (2014)

Review of 'Joss Whedon' on 'Goodreads'

Good, very well told backstory of Joss, through all the ups and downs. There are things I might have wanted more information about, but I suspect those are things we may never know.

Drew Magary, Drew Magary: The Postmortal (2011, Penguin Books)

Review of 'The Postmortal' on 'Goodreads'

Good novel...I don't know that I think society would fall apart that completely, but still a fun story, well told, interesting character.

Gregory A. Boyd: Benefit of the Doubt (2013, Baker Books)

Review of 'Benefit of the Doubt' on 'Goodreads'

Good book; I don't think I heard any new ideas here, but some of his observations are good and helpful. Certainty is an idol I see a lot of and he offers a lot of thoughts as to why it doesn't work.

Lev Grossman: The Magician'S Land (2014, Thorndike Press)

Review of "The Magician'S Land" on 'Goodreads'

Good conclusion to the series; the biggest issue I have with the series in general is that with Quentin we are always told, not shown who he is. Somehow, Grossman makes these stories work.
