Susan Cain: Quiet (Hardcover, 2013, Turtleback, Turtleback Books)

Review of 'Quiet' on 'Storygraph'

Someone has finally written a book about me, or at least that's what reading this book made me feel. This is a well written exploration of those of us who have a more introverted personality and discusses how the current American culture has put an emphasis on those who are more extroverted; and I agree with that premise fully.

Throughout my career and life experience I have always come up against the push to be more outgoing, more like a salesman than the person I really am. Susan Cain describes why it is ok to feel comfortable in our own skin, and why we should push our limits a little bit from time to time, but always returning to our center. She makes valid points on why our culture would benefit from a shift to a more balanced approach to the introvert/extrovert debate; why the world needs both and how both can work together.

I highly recommend this book to everyone, not just introverts, as it will help the extrovert understand a little more about how that quiet person in the next cubical really thinks.
