I'm going to need to mull over this. There was a lot about narrative construction, apophenia, how we see ourselves and how others see us; the difficulty of getting consistent, authentic narratives from sexual assault victims (though maybe that was just my take-away); passive men and hateful women. Julavits is also very funny and her prose is phenomenal.
